Oil Painting

In this fun camp, learn to create oil paintings on canvas. We begin painting a variety of still life for the first two days, strengthening observation skills and getting comfortable with the medium. The second two days students will select photos of their choice and create paintings based on those photos. Students will learn to work safely and neatly with oils, understand the concept of mixing colors using opposites by making their own color wheels. Also students will learn to build a painting in layers, starting with big shapes and refining to the details. They will be introduced to brushwork and strengthen their observation skills. See where your imagination takes you with color, brush strokes and discovery! We will be using traditional oil paints with non-toxic and safe cleaners, no solvents.
